NCAA-FB Thursday Preview with Nemo

When it comes to being informed on the New York underground betting scene nobody knows the landscape better than long time friend of mine Nemo or as some of you from the Twitter world know him @Nemo_718. After missing a spot on my college football podcast I caught up with him this morning to get his thoughts on a few Thursdays games to help bettors brush up before kick off with a couple of free picks.

South Carolina @ Vanderbilt (+7, O/U 45)
Q: A lot of sharps are whispering there is a shot here with Vanderbilt to not only cover but possibly pull off an upset. What’s your thoughts on this game?
Nemo: I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that James Franklin is 7-0 ATS at home as the coach down there. I’m not buying into the hype. Aaron Rodgers little bro is at QB and I have him lower than Wyoming transfer Austyn Carta-Samuels in my player ratings. Don’t be surprised to see Samuels starting at some time this year. I’d like the Commodores chances a lot more with Samuels starting this game and I’d consider the points. I’m not going to lay the points with South Carolina either here but I do feel they are the superior team. I think the total is a little too high. I’d make it about 42. I see Vandy with Rodgers having a tough time moving the chains on offense. South Carolina is a team that isn’t going to run up the score here. They run the ball 60%+ of the time on possessions chewing up clock. Total is a couple points too high in my opinion take the Under.
Nemo’s Pick: Under 45.5

Washington State @ BYU (-13.5, O/U 61)

Q: You told me you liked this Washington State and BYU game and made a bet on this game and wanted to talk about it. What’s your thoughts on this game?
Nemo: Jeff Tuel was 19 of 21 for 295 yards in the spring game for the Cougars in a dress rehearsal spring game debut of what is possible to come with Mike Leach on the sidelines. And Tuel has a NFL prototype WR Marquess Wilson to hook up with against a BYU secondary that I will call down a notch from last year losing their top cover corner and starting safety who they are replacing with a former fullback. I think the Air Raid can put up some big plays vs BYU who has a defensive strong point of stopping the run with a stacked front 7. Too bad Leach isn’t going to be running the ball much and will pass the ball a lot attacking a secondary that will take a few weeks to gel. I think this game has shoot out written all over it and whoever has the ball last will win. Leach will force BYU to play an up tempo game which suits the Cougars well. I’ll take the 13.5 and toss some cash on the money line as well.
Nemo’s Pick: Washington State+13.5

Q: Any other games that stand out on the Thursday night card?
Nemo: Watch this hurricane brewing around the Gulf. The Texas A&M vs Louisiana Tech and UTSA vs South Alabama both could be affected. The razors will be monitoring this storm very closely and if rain and high winds are in the forecast better believe they’ll hit the Under the total in both games causing the totals to drop like a rock.
