2012 NFL Week 6 Smart Money Report

My weekly blog special the “Smart Money Report” Week 4 edition is here to help you guys out. Make sure to check here every Thursday during NFL season as I utilize all my sharps aka professional bettor contacts, Las Vegas Oddsmaker contacts, and NYC bookies to give you the info on what’s happening behind the counter in the NFL betting marketplace with every game on the board.

I always preach to pay attention to opening numbers. If you want to win like as sharp you have to think like a sharp I always say. Remember sharps aka professional bettors bet early in the week into opening numbers to get themselves the best value possible.

Remember squares aka the general betting public usually wait to place their bets until gameday before kick off. So any early moves you see during the beginning of the week is sharp money.

It’s important to realize that every early sharp move isn’t them holding on to that position. Sometime it’s head fake money which is sharps moving a line in order to get a more favorable number on game day betting the other side.

Thursday
Pittsburgh @ Tennessee (+6, O/U 43.5)
Out on the Vegas strip my oddsmaker contact told me he opened this at 6.5 and initially took some home dog money moving this line down to 5.5 before settling at 6 come press time. He told me he wouldn’t be surprised to see this move to 7 on gameday. The total opened at 43 and was bet down to 42.5 before being bet back up to 43.5 come press time. Here in NYC this opened at 6 and the Titans saw sharp money being bet all the way down to 4.5. The number since has settled at 5.5 come press time. The total opened at 43.5 was down as low as 42.5 but has settled back at 43.5 come press time.

Sunday
Indianapolis @ NY Jets (-3, O/U 43)

My Vegas oddsmaker contact opened this at -2.5 and was bet up to -3 where it has sit all week. He has -125 juice attached to the Jets and said they seem to be the sharp side. The total has seen a little Over money being bet up to 43 from the 42 opener. After speaking with my local NYC bookie source he told me they opened this Jets-3 and have moved the juice up to -125 on the Jets @ -3 just like my Vegas. He said the total has bounced back and forth between 42 and 42.5 all week.

St. Louis @ Miami (-3.5, O/U 37.5)
Nothing to report on the side or total in this game early in the week from Vegas. Here in NYC this opened at -3.5 and moved up to -4 at one point early in the week before settling back at 3.5 come press time. The total opened at 38.5 at our local east coast shops and was bet down to 37.5 with some Under support coming in respecting both defenses here.

Oakland @ Atlanta (-9, O/U 49)
Nothing to report from the desert on the side or total. My oddsmaker contact did say he opened this at 9 and expects to stay there in order to try to keep the Falcons out of the teaser window on Sunday. Nothing to report in NYC on this game.

Dallas @ Baltimore (-3.5, O/U 44)
My Vegas oddsmaker source opened this at 4 and said he took some Cowboys bets and moved this down 3.5 where he said the love on the dog stopped. He’s been at 3.5 all week. He said the total was bet up a half of tick from 43.5 to 44. Same exact story on the side and total here in the NYC local bookie scene.

Cincinnati @ Cleveland (+1, O/U 44)
This line opened at 3 on the Vegas strip and for the second week in a row we’ve seen anti-Bengals money coming into the market from sharp bettors. This line has been bet off the key # of 3 all the way down to 1 with heavy sharp support coming in on the Browns. Nothing early to report on the total on the West Coast. Same story on the side here in NYC with strong support coming in for the Browns. The total opened at 45.5 out here and that disappeared quickly as we saw Under money come in and moved this down to 44 where all has been quiet.

Detroit @ Philadelphia (-4, O/U 47.5)
Another big dog move to report from the Vegas strip as my oddsmaker source told me he has taken several big bets from respected players on the Lions moving this line down from 6 to 4 early in the week. He said he hasn’t seen anything on the total yet. Same story here in NYC with a strong sentiment for the dog early in the week. A lot of sharps have taken notes at how the Eagles have been turnover prone and their games have been decided by slim margins and decided to take the points my local NYC source told me. He said the total opened at 48.5 and was bet down to 47.5 come press time with some Under support.

Kansas City @ Tampa Bay (-4, O/U 40)
My Vegas oddsmaker source opened this at -3.5 and saw an early move on the Bucs moving this line to -4 come press time. The total saw as strong move to the Under as it was bet down to 40 from a 42 opener. Same exact story here in NYC according to my local NYC bookie source.

Buffalo @ Arizona (-4.5, O/U 43.5)
Nothing to report from Vegas as my contact has been quiet at the dead # of 5 all week. He did say the total was bet up a half of tick from 43 to 43.5 come press time. Here in NYC this line opened at 4.5 according to my local source and was bet up to -5 where nothing worth reporting has been happening. The total opened at 44 was bet as low as 43 and has settled at 43.5 come press time at NYC local shops.

New England @ Seattle (+3.5, O/U 45)
My Vegas oddsmaker source opened this line at 5 and said the West Coast sharps have made a move on the home dog here with the respect for the Seahawks moving this down to 3.5 where the love stopped. He said it’s likely sharps will wait for the public to come back in on Patriots on Sunday and see if they can grab a 4 or 4.5 again. The total has been bet up a half of tick from 44 to 44.5 come press time. On the east coast my local NYC bookie contact told me they opened at 4.5 and took strong Seahawks money moving this down 3.5 with adjusted -115 vig to bet the Seattle shading this line toward the wiseguys side. The total opened at 46 and was bet down as low as 44 before settling at 45 come press time.

NY Giants @ San Francisco (-6.5, O/U 46)
Some movement to report on this one early and my Vegas contact told me he has been getting sharps split on this one. He opened this line at 6 and was bet down to 5.5 with early Giants support. At 5.5 he took some strong support on the 49’ers and since has moved this line back up to 6.5 come press time. He said even at 6.5 there surprisingly hasn’t been buy back on the Giants like there was Giants support early in the week. Here in NYC this line opened at 6 and we saw strong sharp support for the Giants moving this all way down to 4.5 early. Since there has been sharps with other opinions as well coming in on the 49’ers moving this line back to 6 come press time. The total has bounced between 45.5 and 44.5 all week.

Green Bay @ Houston (-3.5, O/U 47.5)
My Las Vegas oddsmaker source todl me he opened this at 4.5 and initially took some Houston money and moved up to -5 on this game. Since then he’s taken some Packers money moving this as low as 3.5 during the week. So again we have sharps on both sides here. He said at 3.5 he did take a big bet on the Texans and decided to move this back to 4 come press time and expects plenty of two action for this huge Sunday night game. Here in NYC it’s a bookies dream as well as sharps are in a tug of war on both sides. It opened at -4.5 and and got as high as -5.5 before a strong wave of Packers money came in moving this all the way down to 3.5 come press time with no buy back. The total opened at 47 got as high as 48.5 before settling at 47.5 come press time.

Monday
Denver @ San Diego (-1. O/U 49.5)

I talked to my Vegas oddsmaker contact and he said the sharps are all over Peyton Manning and the Broncos here early driving him off the key # of 3 and moving this down to 1.5 come press time with nothing to report on the total. Here in NYC we saw a strong wave of Broncos money as well moving this off the key # of 3 down to 1 come press time. Sharps are starting to feel Manning is starting to look better as each game goes on. Here in NYC the total opened at 50.5 and has been bet down 49 with some Under support coming in early.
