2012 NFL Week 2 Smart Money Report

My weekly blog special the “Smart Money Report” Week 14 edition is here to help you guys out. Make sure to check here every Thursday during NFL season as I utilize all my sharps aka professional bettor contacts, Las Vegas Oddsmaker contacts, and NYC bookies to give you the info on what’s happening behind the counter in the NFL betting marketplace with every game on the board.

I always preach to pay attention to opening numbers. If you want to win like as sharp you have to think like a sharp I always say. Remember sharps aka professional bettors bet early in the week into opening numbers to get themselves the best value possible.

Remember squares aka the general betting public usually wait to place their bets until gameday before kick off. So any early moves you see during the beginning of the week is sharp money.

It’s important to realize that every early sharp move isn’t them holding on to that position. Sometime it’s head fake money which is sharps moving a line in order to get a more favorable number on game day betting the other side.

Thursday
Chicago @ Green Bay (-5.5, O/U 51)

My Vegas oddsmaker contact opened Green Bay up at -5 and the line quickly shot up to -6 before seeing resistance sharps bought in on the Bears at +6 dropping the number back down to 5.5 come press time. He says the initial Green Bay money could have been head fake to try to get the Bears up as high as they could. The total opened at 49.5 and has been bet up to 51.5 with clear Over support he said. Here on the NYC underground scene my local bookie source opened this up at -4.5 and also was bet up to -6 and saw Bears money at +6 dropping the line to 5.5. Same story with the total as the Over support drove the opening # up from 48.5 to 51.

Sunday
Kansas City @ Buffalo (-3, O/U 44.5)

My Vegas oddsmaker contact said this was an interesting game to him with both teams with high expectations this year and coming off of poor showings in Week 1. The Bills opened as a 3.5 point favorite with some sharp money coming in quickly and grabbing the hook with the Chiefs moving this number down to 3 come press time. Nothing to report on the total at 44.5 early. Here on the NYC scene you can still grab a 3.5 with the Chiefs but you have to pay an extra 5 cents at -115 juice. It did open 3.5 and -110 juice. So the move on the Chiefs wasn’t as quick out here. The total is quiet at 45.

Minnesota @ Indianapolis (+1, O/U 44.5)

The Vikings opened as a 1 point favorite out on the Vegas strip at my contacts shop and he has no early movement to report on the side. He did say the total opened up at 43.5 and has been bet up to 44.5 with some support for the Over coming in. Same exact story on side and total here on the NYC scene.

Cleveland @ Cincinnati (-7, O/U 38)

Nothing early to report from Vegas on the side as my source said the key # of 7 is still hanging around. He did take some Under money moving this from 40.5 to 38.5. Same exact story here on the local NYC with the side and the total.

Tampa Bay @ NY Giants (-9, O/U 44)

My Vegas oddsmaker source opened this up at -7.5 and hasn’t seen any sharp moves early on the side. He did say the total was bet up a half of tick from 43.5 to 44. Here on the local NYC scene books wanted to keep the Giants out of the teaser window since they will be a popular bet here come Sunday. They opened them at -9 and the total at 43.5 with no movement to report on side or total early.

Oakland @ Miami (+2.5, O/U 39)

The Dolphins opened as a 3 point home dog here but sharps weren’t impressed with the Raiders at all Monday Night and on a short prep week they’ve elected to take the +3 with the Dolphins moving this off of the key # of 3 down to 2.5 according to my Vegas contact. He said the total opened at 40.5 hit as low as 38 before settling at 39 come press time. Same exact story here in NYC on the side as sharps scooped up the +3 and also hit the Under at 41 driving this low as 38 before settling at 39 come press time.

New Orleans @ Carolina (+1, O/U 51)

My Vegas oddsmaker contact opened the Saints up as a 2.5 point favorite with no early movement on the side to report but did say the total which opened at 50.5 has been bet up a half of tick to 51 come press time. Here on the NYC scene the Saints only opened as a 1 point favorite and there has been no movement on the side. The total opened at 48 and there was a big move to the Over pushing this line up to 50.5 come press time.

Houston @ Jacksonville (+7.5, O/U 41.5)

The Jags opened as a 7.5 point home dog and my Las Vegas contact said sharps came in and took the 7.5 with the Jags but the love stopped once the number hit 7. He said sharps will probably wait until Sunday for the public to bet the Texans and if the line goes back up they will come in again on the Jaguars here. Nothing to report on the total. Here on the local NYC scene this game actually opened at 7 as the local books protected themselves from hanging the hook in this game. They do expect the Texans do be a popular bet come Sunday and have already started to adjust the juice up to -115 to bet the Texans. The total opened at 42.5 and saw some Under support at anything above 42 and they dropped this down to 41.5.

Baltimore @ Philadelphia (-2.5, O/U 41.5)
My Las Vegas source opened the Eagles as a 3 point favorite in this spot and saw sharp money come in and grab the 3 with the Ravens. He said it was enough money to move him off of the key # 3 down to 2.5. He also said sharps had respect for the new look Ravens offense and that’s why he saw some strong Over support come in moving this number from the opener at 44 up to 46.5. According to my local NYC bookie source they opened the Eagles -3.5 in this spot and have been taking a good dose of Ravens money. He now sits at +3 Ravens with -125 juice if you want it. The local guys in NYC are scared to move off 3 because they heard whispers of some big whale bettors looking for the Eagles at anything under a field goal to pounce on. The total opened up at 44 and quickly shot up to 46 with Over support.

Arizona @ New England (-13.5, O/U 48)
Out in the desert my Las Vegas contact opened this game up at 13.5 and 48 and has no early movement to report on the side or total. He said he expects the public to be all over the Patriots and this line may hit 14 or higher come day where he’d expects and will need some sharp money to come in on the dog at the best price available before kick off. Same exact story here on the local NYC scene.

Dallas @ Seattle (+3, O/U 41.5)
Dallas opened as a 3 point favorite on the Vegas strip and my Vegas oddsmaker contact told me he’s seeing some early Cowboys money and has adjusted the vig up to -120 to bet Dallas. He said if the money keeps coming in they may have to move off the key # of 3 at some point this weekend. He said the total was bet down a half of tick from 42.5 to 42. Here on the local NYC scene the Seahawks opened a 3 point dog with -125 juice attached as books expected sharp money to come in on the home dog but the story is the same as Vegas as now the Cowboys are at 3 with -115 juice attached. The total opened at 43 and was bet down to 41.5 with a strong support for the Under at anything above 42.

Washington @ St.Louis (+3, O/U 45.5)
My Vegas source opened this up at 3 with -115 juice to bet the Redskins but said he’s starting to see some Rams money come in from sharps and is at 3 with -125 juice to bet the Rams here. He said if the sharp support keeps coming in he may move off the key # of 3 but doubts it because he expects public support for the RG3 led Redskins after a strong showing in New Orleans. The total has been quiet at 45.5. My local NYC source hasn’t reported much money coming in on this game. He did say the total was bet down a half of tick from 46 to 45.5..

Tennessee @ San Diego (-6, O/U 43)
Out on the Vegas strip my contact opened the side at 6 and hasn’t seen any movement here. But the total which opened at 44.5 has been bet down to 43 with some support come in from sharps on the Under. Here on the NYC scene this opened at 6 and did hit as low as 5.5 before settling back at 6 come press time. The total has been bet down from 44.5 to 43.5 with support for the Under.

NY Jets @ Pittsburgh (-6, O/U 41.5)
My Vegas oddsmaker source opened this game at Steelers-6 and was bet up to -6.5 before starting to see a trickle of money come in on the Jets with strong support moving this down to 5.5 where the love has seemed to stop for now he said. He had nothing to report on the total of this game. Here on the local NYC scene this # has bounced back and forth between 6 and 6.5 all week long before settling at 6 with -115 juice attached to bet the Jets. The NYC locals know the Jets will be a popular bet here come Sunday from the recreational bettors and will need the Steelers. Nothing to report on the total.

Detroit @ San Francisco (-6.5, O/U 47)
My Vegas source told me he opened this up at -6.5 and saw support come in for the Niners moving this up to 7 come press time. He said books will likely need the Lions bad in this spot in Vegas due to the large 49’ers following in Vegas due to the close proximity to Vegas. He said the Niners will also be tied up in a lot of exotics from recreation bettors such as parlays and teasers. So bottom line he said this number may start to move to entice some sharp money on the Lions. The total has been quiet at 46.5. Here on the local NYC scene my local contact told me they have adjusted the 49’ers up to -115 juice but have kept the # at 6.5 so far. The total has been bet up a half of tick from 46.5 to 47 come press time.

Monday
Denver @ Atlanta (-3, O/U 51)

My Vegas oddsmaker source opened this at the key # of 3 but didn’t report anything early on the side. He did say he opened the total at 49 and saw some early money come in on the Over moving this up to 51 come press time. Here on the local NYC scene this opened at 4 and the local NYC books saw a strong move on the Broncos at 4 and 3.5. The total has also been bet up from 48 to 50.5 with a strong move toward the Over in this game.

Sometimes I agree with these early moves and sometimes I don’t. One thing I can say in my opinion has been a strong one over the past couple of seasons I’ve went 67-41-2 (62%) my L/110 NFL Bets. It’s good to have a guy like me by your side come Sunday to help utilize my contacts to make us money on some diamonds in the rough. Hop on board with me this weekend as I look to exploit the marketplace with the help of my contacts.
