2012 NFL Thanksgiving Smart Money Report

We have a Special Edition NFL Thanksgiving “Smart Money Report” to help you guys out. The rest of the card I’ll finish in the Week 12 Edition on Friday. Make sure to check here every Thursday during NFL season as I utilize all my sharps aka professional bettor contacts, Las Vegas Oddsmaker contacts, and NYC bookies to give you the info on what’s happening behind the counter in the NFL betting marketplace with every game on the board.

I always preach to pay attention to opening numbers. If you want to win like as sharp you have to think like a sharp I always say. Remember sharps aka professional bettors bet early in the week into opening numbers to get themselves the best value possible.

Remember squares aka the general betting public usually wait to place their bets until gameday before kick off. So any early moves you see during the beginning of the week is sharp money.

It’s important to realize that every early sharp move isn’t them holding on to that position. Sometime it’s head fake money which is sharps moving a line in order to get a more favorable number on game day betting the other side.

Houston @ Detroit (+3, O/U 49.5)
My Vegas oddsmaker contact opened this at 3 and hasn’t moved off the key # yet but believes this morning he may have to go up to 3.5 but will try to stay at 3 as long as possible. He opened this at standard 11/10 odds and is now at -130 vig on Houston at -3. The total opened at 49.5 and he has been up to 50.5 come press time. Talking to my local NYC bookie source and he told me they opened this at 4 and took sharp money on Detroit at 4 and 3.5. Once the line hit 3 the love stopped. Same exact story as Vegas on the total.

Washington @ Dallas (-3.5, O/U 48)
Out in the desert there was a strong sharp sentiment on the dog here and my Vegas bookmaker told me they opened this up at 4 and have been bet down to 3 come press time with sharp money taking the Redskins early. At -3 he said he does expect some action on Dallas and said this is the most balanced game as far as money goes for the day. He said unlike the other two where books will likely need the dogs to come through this game they’ve actually taken quite a bit of Redskins money in the form of exotics and money line bets. The total is up one point from 47 to 48. This opened at 4.5 in NYC and my local bookie contact has been bet down to 3.5 but said they are at -125 juice to bet Washington at +3.5 and aren’t sure if they’ll go down to 3 today. Books in NYC thought offshore opened this total high so they opened at 46 but the market moved this up to 48. My local source did tell me he loves the Cowboys in this spot.

New England @ NY Jets (+7, O/U 48.5)
My Las Vegas contact told me this is the game that worries him the most. He knows no matter what happens in the first two games the recreational betting public will be all over New England here and the house will need the Jets to cover. He opened this at 7 and took Jets money early in the week and got as low as 6 before seeing resistance and other sharps come in on New England at -6 pushing this # back up to 7. He said he’ll likely stay on the key # of 7 all night and root in the Jets. The total opened 51.5 and saw a strong sharp move toward the Under moving this down to 48.5 come press time. Here in NYC the same exact story on the side as this opened at 7 and was bet as low as 6 before getting bet back up to 7 come press time. Same exact story as Vegas with a strong sharp move toward the Under.
